Frequently Asked Questions

  • At the time of your appointment, your psychologist will greet you in the waiting room. In this first session, a thorough assessment will be conducted in order to develop a good understanding of your goals and reasons for seeking therapy, your current circumstances, and your background. We will also discuss any questions you may have.

Please note that all sessions are 50 minutes in duration, with the last 10 minutes of the hour allocated for your psychologist to write up notes and plan for your next session.

  • Yes. Online sessions (also known as Telehealth) are conducted via the Zoom platform. All you need is an Internet connection, a computer with a microphone and camera, and the Zoom application installed. If you would like your session to be conducted online, please let us know and we will provide you with the necessary information.

  • If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, we ask that you provide at least 48 hours notice across two business days (Mon-Fri). If your session is cancelled less than 48 hours before your session, you will be charged the full session fee. This policy exists to allow others to have the opportunity to book in, should you be unable to make it.

  • To be eligible to receive a Medicare rebate for sessions, you must obtain a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from a GP prior to your session and provide us with a copy. Please note that many GPs will require a long consult to complete a MHCP with you. You can access up to 10 sessions per calendar year under a MHCP, and you will receive a rebate of $136.65 per session. Please be aware that if you are referred under a MHCP, it is a requirement that brief progress reports be sent from your psychologist to your GP throughout treatment. If you do not wish to claim a rebate through Medicare, you do not need a GP referral.

  • Your private health fund may provide rebates for psychological services depending on your level of cover. Please contact your health fund to find out more. Please note, you can only claim one rebate per session (that is, through Medicare OR your private health fund, not both).
